The fee sheet
Every line of the price, before you hire us
Each flat fee covers our work on that kind of case from the first call to the end, and goes into a written agreement. What isn’t ours to charge is listed under it.
The first video call
A lawyer totals both columns with you and says which way through fits, or that none does yet.
- A lawyer, not an intake desk
- A straight answer on filing, or not filing
- No papers to sign
- Term:
- Half an hour
Chapter 7
Our usual casePaid before filing, in up to three installments.
- The means test and the petition
- Notice to creditors and your payroll office
- Our lawyer next to you at the trustee meeting
- Filing fee paid to the court, $338
- Two required courses
- Term:
- Flat fee
Chapter 13
A first part before filing, the rest through the plan.
- Building the plan and the hearing that approves it

Court filing fees go to the court, and each course provider sets its own price. A lower income can ask the court to waive the Chapter 7 filing fee.

Three costs that aren’t ours
We never collect these for ourselves, and we tell you each amount before you decide.
The court’s filing fee
Paid to the court when the case is filed: $338 for Chapter 7 and $313 for Chapter 13. It can be paid in installments, or waived on request for lower incomes.
The first course
A short online credit-counseling course, taken before the case is filed. Approved providers set their own prices, and some offer lower ones for a low income.
The second course
A debtor-education course taken after filing, before the discharge. It is the last thing between you and the end of the case.
About the fee
01Why one price and not hourly?
So you can plan. The price is written down before you sign, and it doesn’t rise because a case takes longer than we expected.
02What if my case becomes more complicated?
Some things are outside the flat fee, such as a lawsuit in another court, and we say so in the agreement before you sign. Anything inside the fee stays inside it.
03Can the fee be split up?
The Chapter 7 fee can be paid in up to three installments before filing. A Chapter 13 fee is part before filing and the rest through the plan.
